YWCA Metropolitan Chicago has been a part of the Woodlawn community for more than 50 years. Our economic empowerment programs have been helping people improve their economic lives for over a decade. In 2017, our business and entrepreneurship services were officially designated a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. As an Illinois SBDC, we provide a range of services to our business and entrepreneurship clients that include:

* One-on-one business advising using the nationally recognized GrowthWheel Model

* Monthly “How to Start a Business” workshops, where successful entrepreneurs share insights with other aspiring entrepreneurs

* Monthly “Side Hustle Saturday” workshops, specifically designed to help clients take the leap from hobbyist to business owner.

* Bi-Annual “Plan for Profit” Business course – a 14 week long course to help you create, edit your business plan.

* Specialized child care business programs and advising to help early childhood professionals start a business, grow an existing business or improve the childcare industry practices by adopting innovative approaches to childcare.
